BATT

BATT = Building A Team Together is a program designed to assist new church plants in the early stages of development and occasionally assists replants. You can help churches in these early difficult times.

BATT members are those who commit to assisting these churches with a minimum gift of $10 a project with a maximum of three projects each year. This comes to a minimum of $30.00 a year. Most of us can afford to give this and more. It might not seem like much but if we have 500 or 1,000 others who are doing the same we can be a big encouragement to a new or struggling work.

You can have a part in these ministries not only through your gift but through your prayers. If you would like to join the Team please e-mail your name and address to office@bgc.ca with a note saying you wish to be a BATT member.

If you would like to receive the BATT by email, please click here to contact Diane.

PHILIPPINE BIRTHING CLINIC

Partner with us as we build a new Birthing Clinic in our community.

In the Philippines, maternal deaths account for 14 percent of deaths among women of reproductive age.

Eva serves with midwives at Daughters of Faith Lying In at a Birthing Clinic near our home where they provide a trained birth attendant at each birth.

On average, 90 women visit each month for prenatal checkups, and 15-20 of these women will deliver with us and have at least one follow-up checkup with a pediatrician.

The lease on this critically needed facility is expiring soon, and we are now raising funds to build a new Birthing Clinic in this area.

We are extremely thankful for the prayer and financial support of our partners that has already enabled us to purchase a suitable lot and to start construction of the Clinic itself.

We have sufficient funds to complete the entire birthing clinic building (first and second floors). We now need to raise CAD $95,760 to complete the final pase of the project - the multi-purpose facility. This facility will host the children's club and youth group that currently meet in the Fasts' home. Their home is not really large enough as these two groups have seen much growth. The facility will also be used as a classroom for SEATS and has potential to serve in many other ways (i.e. pre and post-natal classes, parenting classes, other community classes, a feeding program for malnourished todlers, neighbourhood association meetings, AA, etc.).

How can you help? By prayerfully considering what you are able to contribute.

Philippines

Free Health Clinics

There is no “public” health care in the Philippines. Unless you have money to pay you have little to no access to health care. Clinics have been designed to assist the poor and are hosted by local churches. This gives the church an opportunity to serve and connect with people in their community. Local doctors, nurses and dentist volunteer their time to make these clinics a reality. Funds are need for transportation, basic supplies and medicine. Writing a prescription doesn’t work if a person lacks the money to purchase the medicine.

Midwifery

This project is designed to assist the poor in the area of child birth. It not only involves the delivery but prenatal care and counseling as well (from a faith foundation). Because the midwives develop relationships with these women they have opportunities not only to share God’s love but his message of hope and salvation.

Cost: $550.00/month
Target: Ongoing

Pastoral Training

The need for pastors is great so those who set forward to lead often have little training. And those with some training can always use more. We don’t support local pastors financially but we do help them with free education. Costs for these classes can cover the travel and lodging of the students and the instructor, as well as basic materials.
